Exhibition : "Climat, Etat d’Urgence"

Every year, la Fondation Alliance française organizes an international photography competition within the network of les Alliances françaises worldwide.

The Fondation proposed that the subject of the competition’s 2015 series follows the event of the XXI Conference on Climate Change, which France hosted from 30 November to 11 December.
Pictures were therefore submitted in response to the theme : "CLIMATE STATE OF EMERGENCY".

The pictures are illustrations of local problems or issues raised by the real or perceived changes in the climates of different countries.
In their work, candidates present the climatic effects which have direct affects on local populations, as well as the solutions, public or private, which have emerged in each country to fight against the negative effects of climate change.

105 Alliances françaises from 43 different countries have contributed to this edition.

The judging panel, whose sponsor is the famous French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, have selected the 44 best pictures that l’Alliance française de Manchester is proud to present from next February 26!

This exhibition follows on from the event "50 Days before COP21", that was organised on October 9 at the Alliance, enabling those of you interested to reflect further on these environmental issues.
The exhibition will open on Friday 26 February, with a series of twenty and thirty minute talks in response to the photographs on display.

We are delighted to welcome back Amandine Scherrer for the opening and hosting of the event.
Our speakers will be Viriginie Le Masson, a geographer specializing in gender, and Steve Connor, CEO of Creative Concern.

You will be able to enjoy the exhibition for one month at the Alliance, until the 25th of March.
