DELF-DALF

The DELF-DALF exams

Dear students/candidates, due to COVID-19 our premises are closed and the exam sessions for March, April and May have been cancelled. The session scheduled for June has been postponed to July. Places are limited to ensure social distancing. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in enrolling. We will update our website as soon as we have more information.

The DELF and DALF are official French language proficiency qualifications administered and awarded by the French Ministry of Education, and are available at 6 different levels. The DELF French test is for beginners and intermediate learners, and the DALF is for those who have more advanced knowledge.

Who can take the DELF/DALF French exams?

The tests are suited to a wide range of candidates, and different versions are available for primary school students (DELF Prim), secondary school students (DELF Junior) and adults (DELF-DALF Tout Public). You can register directly for the exam at the level you require, without any need to prove any prior course of study or to have passed any other exams.

What are the DELF/DALF French tests like?

These exams assess four skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Authentic documents are used, so that the candidate’s language skills are tested rather than their more formal linguistic and grammatical knowledge.

What are the benefits of a DELF/DALF qualification?

  • an official statement of your French level, valid for life and recognised internationally, including for French nationality applications;
  • proof of how much your French has improved;
  • career advancement and an official qualification for your CV;
  • recognised proof of level for studies at a French university or institute of higher education.
