What equipment do I need?

A PC with Windows 10 or a Mac on OS X 10.13, 10.14 or 10.15, plus headphones and a microphone. A full list of technical requirements, including recommended internet speed, can be found here

Why is it better to use a computer than a tablet/phone?

There are versions available for tablet/phone, however we advise using a computer so you can use the larger screen to see all your classmates, the blackboard and read the class materials.

Do I really need to wear headphones?

Yes, this is essential, even if you access the class using a tablet/phone – otherwise the other members of your class and your teacher will have problems with echoes and distorted sound. Headphones with an integrated microphone are best, but any headphones at all are better than none.

What should I do before my first class?

Although you can connect to the classroom using your browser, the Adobe Connect Meeting Application is much more reliable, stable and offers a wider range of features. We strongly recommend that you connect using the application.

1. Download and install the Adobe Connect application from the Adobe connect website: here ; you should use either the Windows 64-bit version or the Mac version from the list "Meeting Applications for Adobe Connect". If you do not have access to a computer, you will find the download link for the phone/tablet application here.
   
2. Check your microphone and headphones to ensure they are in working order (you can check using your computer settings, for example).
3. Get in touch with Reception if you have any problems or are not sure what to do.

How do I attend my class?

Before 12pm on the day of an evening class, or before 4pm on the day before a morning class, your teacher will write to you with the classroom link – please look out for this email (check your spam folder if you don’t see it in your inbox)!

1. Click on the link in the email.
2. When prompted, open the classroom in the Adobe Connect application.
3. Type your name as a guest (your first name is enough; please use the name we have on file for you).
4. You will be placed in a virtual waiting room for a short while.
5. Once you enter the meeting, using the icons on the menu bar at the top of the window, you should activate your camera and microphone (they will be green if they are on). You may need to click on the arrow next to the icons to select the speaker / microphone you wish to use.
6. Don’t worry! Your teacher will guide you through the connection process and we will get in touch to help if we notice any problems.

Please connect around 10 minutes before your first class so you have enough time to correct your set-up if there is an issue.
