French-speaking part-time course and exam Administrator & Receptionist

Are you an organised and detail-oriented French-speaking professional looking for a rewarding role in the education and charitable sector?
If so, we have an exciting opportunity waiting for you as a temporary replacement Administrator and Receptionist at the Alliance Française de Manchester based in the City Centre. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team for 26 hours a week, providing vital part-time administrative support to ensure the seamless operation of our bustling language school.

This role is a temporary position offered on a fixed-term basis (covering sickness absence) to provide cover for an employee currently on long-term leave. The employment will end when the postholder returns to work.

Job Description


As an Administrator Receptionist, you will assume a crucial role in maintaining efficient administrative processes within the Alliance Française. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Reception Area: Extend a warm and professional welcome to visitors and students.
  • Communication Handling: Skilfully manage incoming phone calls, emails, and correspondence, directing them to the appropriate staff members and delivering effective responses to inquiries.
  • Student Admissions Assistance: Assist with student admissions, meticulously maintain records, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Record Keeping: Contribute to the maintenance of school records, databases, and filing systems.
  • Office Management: contribute to office supplies and stocks, check cleanliness, etc
  • Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with the leadership team and colleagues to ensure the smooth flow of day-to-day operations.
  • Exam Support: Provide support across all stages of the exam process. This includes assisting with the preparation of exam materials, setting up classrooms, invigilating sessions, checking candidates’ identification, and helping with pre and post-exam procedures and documentation.
  • Events Support: Support the administrative aspects of school events, visits, and activities, including coordinating logistics and preparing the necessary documentation.

Required Skills

  • Language Proficiency: English: Fluent (C1+) + French: B2
  • Organisational Proficiency: Exhibit excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Meticulous attention: Show strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and data management.
  • Communication expertise: Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with staff, students, and external stakeholders.
  • Technical aptitude: Possess proficiency in using computer systems and office software, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Relevant experience: Previous experience in a similar administrative position or customer service role is highly desirable.
  • Professional demeanour: Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour, demonstrating the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Contract & Conditions

  • This is a temporary position offered on a fixed-term basis from 9th April 2026 till 24th July 2026
  • Fixed-term contract for 26 hours per week.
  • Working hours are 13.30PM to 20:45PM from Mondays to Thursdays including 45 minutes break.
  • Gross salary will be £12.71/hour.
  • Position available as soon as 09 April 2026
  • Location: Alliance Française de Manchester – 125 Portland Street, Manchester M1 4QD
