The Alliance Française de Manchester (AFM) is seeking additional Trustees to join the existing members of its Board.
The Trustees are responsible for overseeing the management and administration of the institution and supporting the strategic missions of
the AFM. Being a Trustee at the AFM represents an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of one of Manchester’s prime
cultural institutions and to take an active part in the promotion of the knowledge of the French language and French-language cultures in
Greater Manchester and surrounding areas.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for experienced professionals on a voluntary basis who can bring valuable
experience, skills and expertise. We are particularly seeking individuals with skills and experience in the following sectors and domains:
the charitable sector, financial management and planning, property law, property management and strategic planning, marketing and
marketing research, human resources, employment law, other relevant areas of the law and general administration.
We are keen to broaden further thinking and perspectives and welcome applications from all areas of the Northwest. We believe diversity is important, and we are looking for a mix of people, talents and backgrounds. You will need to be aged over 18 and have:

Previous trustee experience is not required. Fluency in French is not essential.

This voluntary, unpaid role will allow you to use your skills and experience to benefit Greater Manchester, provide enhanced services to our
students, clients and members, and promote diversity and cultural understanding.
In addition, you will benefit from a free AFM membership + Free French courses (group classes).
About the Alliance Française de Manchester Since 1997, the Alliance Française de Manchester has played a vital role in the Northwest in fostering knowledge and understanding of the French language and French-speaking cultures, and in promoting cultural and linguistic exchanges between the UK and the French-speaking world.
The Alliance Française de Manchester is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (“CIO”) registered with the Charity Commission under the
number 1068084. It works in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Fondation des Alliances Françaises founded on 1 January
2008 and benefits from the support of both the French Embassy and the Institut Français du Royaume-Uni. It is an independently run member
of a worldwide network of Alliances Françaises, first established in 1883 in Paris. Today, this network comprises over 830 organisations
in 132 countries.
The main purposes of Alliance Française de Manchester are:
These purposes are achieved by providing education in the French language to the public, by maintaining a French-language resource library, and by organising cultural events. The AF de Manchester is independent of all political and religious affiliations and prohibits any form of discrimination.
