Made on the cusp of WWII and set in a country house; trouble is brewing upstairs and downstairs resulting in violence, bad faith and broken hearts. A groundbreaking film in terms of characterisation and style, it has been described as ‘an interrogation of spontaneity, convention and self-deception’.
This film is offered in French with English subtitles.
